Finding a job
First of all you could approach a recruitment agency
specialising in placing crews on superyachts. These agencies will
keep a database of clients looking for crew and candidates they
wish to put forward. There is generally no fee for this service for
the candidates themselves.
Viking Recruitment
(+44 (0)300 303 8191), Marine Resources (+44
(0) 2380 633399) and Yellow Admiral (+ 44(0)1621
779900) are members of Superyacht UK
Alternatively if you are taking a training course, your training
provider may be able to help you find a job. Training providers
often have good contacts with owners and management companies of
superyachts, and help their students to find work during or after
their training.
Superyacht crew jobs are often advertised in the yachting press
– both in print and online. The Crew Report is a popular
publication for Superyacht Crew, and its online site gives
candidates the opportunity to search for current vacancies and
upload their CV. See www.thecrewreport.com/superyachtjobs.asp
for more information.
Finally, you may be able to find a job on board simply by being
in the right place at the right time, and asking the question! Many
crew have found their job by walking along the dock in the popular
cruising grounds of Superyachts – for example in Antibes in the
south of France, and Fort Lauderdale in Florida, USA. Find out
where the local crew ‘hang-outs’ are, talk to people, make contacts
and find your dream job.
