Invitation to join the Superyacht UK Executive Committee
With the Superyacht UK annual AGM soon approaching, a fantastic opportunity has arisen to join the Association Executive Committee and help support the marine industry within the superyacht sector.
As a group, the SYUK Committee supports its members, promotes the UK superyacht sector as well as products manufactured and services available on an international scale, hosts and supports events throughout the annual industry calendar and assists in the recruitment and retention of members. The Committee also guides British Marine on the priorities for Superyacht UK, ensuring our trade body is representing the issues that most affect members.
Members who sit on the Committee hear briefings from the British Marine team on key industry issues, including events, changes in regulation, government updates and more.
We understand the time of the Committee is precious and their own business needs are a priority, so to ensure they have full support from British Marine, each association is allocated an Association Executive who manages the administration and planning of the committee commitments. As a member of the Committee, members are asked to attend a quarterly meeting including the annual AGM, these meetings last between one and two hours. The meetings are currently being held in a hybrid form allowing Committee members flexibility.
In addition to these meetings, several social and business events take place which Committee members are encouraged to attend and from previous feedback, benefit from attending. These have included The Superyacht UK Young Designer Competition, Monaco Yacht Show and The Superyacht Tour of Excellence which have provided a brilliant platform to promote the association to a wider audience as well as supporting the younger generation who are looking for a career within the superyacht sector. This gives the Committee a chance to really shout about what they do and get involved in unique projects and on the water activities.
This year there are six positions available to join the committee. Following the recruitment phase, a shortlisting process will take place where the current SYUK Chair, Stephen Hills and Vice Chair Ken Hickling will review all applications and select successful applicants based on sector and skills gaps within the current committee.
We want to ensure we have a Committee in place who represents various sectors within the industry who can share their knowledge and skills with the members and that’s where you come in!
